Thor Sequel Explores All Nine Realms
Marvel’s upcoming Thor sequel Thor: The Dark World already has a cast that includes Christopher Ecclestone and Lost star Adewale Akinuoye-Agbaje; alongside returning stars Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Kat Dennings. Now reports are beginning to circulate that the next adventure of the god-like hammer wielding warrior will explore the full array of fantastical worlds from the popular comic series.
A Russian website claims that the new film won’t be confined to Earth and Thor’s home world Asgard but will explore all of the Nine Realms that Thor is said to be guardian of.
“The film promises to cover not just the Earth and Asgard but the entire Nine Realms. The studio hopes that Game Of Thrones director Alan Taylor has the experience to build upon the fantasy of the series.”
For those unfamiliar with the original comics, those nine world’s include Jotunheim, Svartalheim, Alfeim, Hel, Muspelheim, Nidavellir and Vanaheim, Asgard and of course Earth.
Whilst there’s certainly some logic behind Marvel’s choice of the accomplished Game Of Thrones director to guide Thor’s next increasingly fantastical adventure, it remains to be seen just how extensively the film does explore all nine worlds. It’s perhaps more likely despite the apparent speculation that to least some of them may be left a little more mysterious.
As always Marvel has a constant eye on inevitable sequels and it’s perhaps unlikely they’d want to cram the entire Thor universe into just one film. Thor: The Dark World will arrive in UK cinemas on 8 November 2013.
