Following the lucrative examples of Harry Potter, Twilight and The Hunger Games it’s been officially confirmed that Allegiant the final book in the Divergent franchise will be turned into two films, stretching the trilogy into four bites at the box office for Lionsgate & Summit.

The first part of the finale will still premiere on March 18^th 2016 with the second installment arriving March 24^th 2017. The solid box office performance of the first film has clearly given the studio supreme confidence that  they can easily count on audiences to stick with the franchise for the next three years.
