Guillermo Del Toro’s Oscar winning fantasy film Pan’s Labyrinth is set to become a stage musical. Del Toro has reportedly spent the past four years plotting the unlikely adaptation and now has Oscar winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla and lyricist Paul Williams on board to complete the new show.

The original film tells the tale of a young girl escaping the grim realities of life in the aftermath of the Spanish civil war by exploring her own dark fantasy world, populated by Del Toro’s trademark creature creations.

No news yet on when and where the show will be debuting but the prospect for seeing Del Toro’s beautifully nightmarish imagination brought to life on stage should excite fans greatly.
