Royals (Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) join performers (Cirque du Soleil), host (Lumley), honoree (Scott), nominees (Janney to McDonagh) and expected guests at annual ceremony honouring the best in British and international film. Female nominees and guests attending this year’s event are expected to wear black in solidarity with their American counterparts as part of the Time’s Up movement. Daniel Kaluuya, Timothée Chalamet, Florence Pugh, Josh O’Connor and Tessa Thompson are nominated for the EE BAFTA Rising Star Award. Del Toro’s The Shape of Water is nominated in 12 categories, including best film, best director, best actress for Sally Hawkins and best supporting actress for Octavia Spencer. Annette Bening, Frances McDormand and Saoirse Ronan are also nominated for best actress while Sir Daniel Day-Lewis, Daniel Kaluuya, Gary Oldman, Jamie Bell and Timothée Chalamet are nominated for best actor. Call Me By Your Name, Darkest Hour, Dunkirk and Three Billboards are also in the running for best film.
