Prestigious prize ceremony celebrates writing by women in the English language, published in the UK. Shortlist includes: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Americanah); Hannah Kent (Burial Rites); Jhumpa Lahiri (The Lowland); Audrey Magee (The Undertaking); Eimear McBride (A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing); and Donna Tartt (The Goldfinch). American author AM Homes was awarded the prize in 2013.
