Now in its fifth year and recognised as the fastest growing shorts competition in the UK, the reed.co.uk Short Film Competition is focused on giving talented, creative individuals an opportunity to showcase their work to the widest possible audience. This includes working with Channel 4, who will screen the best shorts.
2014 judges include: Jaime Winstone (Actress / Producer), Eugene Simon (Games of Thrones), Lisa Bryer (Last King of Scotland), Stuart Cosgrove (Channel 4), Leonara Lonsdale (Writer / Director), Michael O’Kelly (Director-Winner 2013), Matt Risley(Total Film), Nicola Reed (Short Film Competition Founder), Paul Weiland (Chairman) and Roger Chapman (BBC / Channel 4 / National Geographic) .
Working from a short-list of 12 selected films, all of which cover the theme of FAMILY BUSINESS and are available for the public to view on reed.co.uk/film, the judging panel will present four awards as follows:
GRAND PRIX: £10,000 prize, British Council Support to attend two international Film Festivals, £2,000 towards a Met School film course and tormenting support from Creative England and career advice, development and guidance
JUDGES COMMENDATION: £1,000 prize, plus £2,000 towards a course at the Met Film School
PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD: Selected by the public. Prize to include £1,000 plus £2,000 towards a course at the Met Film School
BEST YOUNG FILM MAKER: £1,000 prize and £2,000 towards a course at the Met Film School
The Awards, hosted by Alex Zane, will be taking place at BAFTA, Piccadilly, London on 8th May 2014 – where the winners will be announced.
