HBO has confirmed the premiere date for the much anticipated sixth season of Game of Thrones. The new series will kick off on April 24th this year on the same night other HBO success stories like Veep and Silicon Valley also premiere their latest offerings.

It’s also being reported that HBO, regardless of recent delays to the release of George RR Martin’s next book, the television version of Game Of Thrones will be pushing on into the as yet uncharted territory of season seven and eight. Talk are apparently ongoing to secure the casts return for season eight as their contractual obligations allegedly only original ran as far as seven seasons.

Perhaps finally explaining why the show runners have seemed so determined to kill off every recognizable character as quickly and brutally as possible…
