Director Gareth Edward’s much delayed/anticipated Godzilla remake will be one of the films making an appearance at this year’s Sand Diego Comic Con. To promote the event the Director released the below video promising they had ‘something very exciting planned’. As a ‘little clue’ the production has released some fake news stories  via the site GodzillaEncounter.com.

Selected letters in the news stories tittle shave been highlighted. When put in order these letters spell out Serizawa. Whilst that may not mean much to most, to Godzilla fans it is truly significant.

Doctor Serezawa was the human protagonist of the original 1954 version of Godzilla. He is a research scientist who creates a devastating new weapon called the Oxygen Destroyer. Though conflicted about his creation and its use to vaporize living things, in the original film Dr Serizawa ultimately agreed to use it against the unstoppable destructive power of Godzilla and heroically sacrificed himself whilst deploying the device.

It’s the first big hint that the new film will at least be borrowing characters directly from the 1954 original, paying true homage to the franchises long running legacy. The cast of the new film includes Aaron Taylor- Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Sally Hawkins, David Strathairn and Juliettte Binoche. However star Ken Wantanabe would seem like the most obvious candidate for playing Doctor Serizawa.
