Harrison Ford up for Indiana Jones 5
Harrison Ford has confirmed in a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph that he would be interested in returning as Indiana Jones for the fifth time for yet another sequel.
Here’s what the 71 year old action star had to say about the prospect of reprising the role:
“We’ve seen the character develop and grow over a period of time. It’s perfectly appropriate and OK for him to come back again with a great movie around him. To me, what was interesting about the character was that he prevailed, that he had courage, that he had wit, that he had intelligence, that he was frightened and that he still managed to survive. That I can do.”
Following his iconic portrayal of the adventuring archaeologist in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Ford reprised the role successfully in Temple of Doom (1984) and The Last Crusade (1989). Though admittedly his much delayed return to the character in 2008’s Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls was met with mixed reactions from critics and fans alike. Even his co-star Shia Labeouf admitted that the film was a disappointment that let fans down.
Last year Steven Spielberg indicated that George Lucas was working on possible story ideas for the sequel. However there’s no news whether semi-retired George Lucas still has any interest in the project or how the recent sale of Lucasfilm to Disney might affect the prospects of another sequel.
