Shane Black Directs Predator Reboot

Iron Man 3 writer and director Shane Black was part of the cast of the original Predator, the iconic jungle based action flick that pitted Arnold Schwarzenegger and a team of hardened special forces soldiers against a very ugly alien with thermal camouflage. Now 30 years later Black will reportedly be tasked with writing and directing a reboot of the franchise for 20th Century Fox.

Ironically Black was approached to re-write the screenplay for the 1986 original, with a desperate studio and producer going so far as to give him a role in the film in the hopes of persuading him. Despite his refusal the original became an undisputed genre classic and has gone on to spawn a variety of sequels and spin-off of varying quality.

Black will now team with Fred Dekker to produce a screenplay before directing the resulting script. The pair have a long history having been jointly responsible for another 80s cult classic Monster Squad.

In the meantime Black already has film noir effort The Nice Guys and pulp comic reboot Doc Savage in the works. So production on Predator may have to wait a little while to get to the chopper…

Tatum, Swinton & Fiennes Join Hail, Caesar! Cast

Hail, Caesar! the Coen Brothers concluding film in their so called ‘numskull trilogy’, has reportedly added Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes it’s cast. Taking their place alongside Josh Brolin and frequent collaborator George Clooney.

The film will form a loose trilogy of sorts with Intolerable Cruelty and O Bother Where Art Thou?, it’s also set to be a 1950s  Hollywood era comedy. Channing Tatum is reportedly set to play a Gene Kelly type star, Tilda Swinton  a powerful Hollywood gossip columnist and Ralph Fiennes will be a studio boss.

Stunt Legend Terry Richards Dies Age 81

Terry Richards the prolific and legendary stunt man who starred in the Indiana Jones and James Bond Films has sadly passed away at the age of 81.

Richards squared off on screen against James Bond, Luke Skywalker, Rambo and Indiana Jones during a glittering 50 year career. He doubled  also for stars like Donald Sutherland and Christopher Lee.

One of his most iconic on screen moments came in Raiders of The Lost Ark, when his sword wielding baddie was shot and lazily dispatched on the street of Cairo by Indiana Jones after a pointlessly impressing display of sword juggling.

Speaking to Red Carpet News TV  in one of his final interviews Richards spoke about how the industry had changed and his work on classic films and fan favorites.
