Aaron Taylor-Johnson set for Avengers sequel Quicksilver
Kick-Ass star Aaron Taylor-Johnson might soon be playing a genuine superhero with actual powers as he reveals he has indeed already met with Avengers director Joss Whedon over joining the glittering ensemble cast for the sequel Avengers: Age Of Ultron.
The young star would potentially be playing the part of Quicksilver, a young mutant gifted with superhuman speed.
“I feel really flattered and honoured that they came to me for that role. I think he’s an interesting character and we’re just gonna keep going into that. I sat down with Joss, I think he’s awesome, I sat down with the guys at Marvel and they’re also great; I think it’d be interesting.”
This bit of likely casting news comes shortly after Taylor-Johnson ironically missed out on the role in the new X-Men film Days Of Future Past after Marvel and 20th Century Fox finally reached agreement over the use of the character that represents a significant cross-over point between the X-Men and Avengers franchises.
The confusing result is that now two versions of the character played by different actors will appear the next Avengers and X-men sequels. Time will tell which fans embrace most, although X-men Days of Future Past should beat Avengers 2 to cinemas by at least a year. So their Quicksilver will at least in that crucial respect be the fastest.
First Look At X-Men Sentinels
X-men: Days of Future Past has fans excited for many reasons, but one very big reason is seeing the Sentinels finally brought to life on screen. Widely celebrated as one of the most iconic images from the comic books and successful animated TV series the Sentinels are giant robotic policemen ill-advisedly deployed by a desperate humanity in an effort to protect themselves.
Inventor Boliver Trask, played by Game of Thrones diminutive superstar Peter Dinklage is the man responsible for the towering machines. Check out the viral video below which subtly teases fans with a fake advert for Trask Industries:
Jamie Foxx wants to star in Spawn Reboot
Jamie Foxx has shared his unreserved enthusiasm for taking the lead role in a big screen reboot of cult superhero series Spawn. The dark comic book hero was the subject of a 1997 film adaptation that was met with mixed reaction from critics and fans of the franchise.
But Foxx admits that reviving the series is one of the personal projects he’s very interested in turning into a reality:
“Spawn is one, yeah and Mike Tyson. Those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them.”
In the original comic books Spawn was a former assassin, dispatched from hell and returned to Earth armed with newfound supernatural powers. It’s unclear how close a Spawn revival might be to reality, but having a major star like Foxx so enthusiastically attached might just breathe some life into it.
Foxx will shortly be seen playing the villainous Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alongside Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
Andrew Garfield talks Amazing Spider-Man 2
Andrew Garfield cut loose at Comic con 2013 in full Spider-Man costume and has revealed a little of what fans can expect from the complex relationship between Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter ego in new sequel the Amazing Spider-Man 2:
“What I’ve really enjoyed on this one is the dynamic between Spider-Man and Peter, and how they’re really two different people at this point, and how the alter ego has overtaken and is not allowing Peter to really function, buzzing with nervous energy. Peter’s always short-wiring in his life, whereas there’s a great relief in putting on the suit and mask. The anonymity of that and the freedom of expression.”
Jamie Foxx plays new villain Electro and Emma Stone reprises her role as Peter’s love interest Gwen Stacey in the sequel, directed once again by the appropriately named Director Marc Webb.
Eddie Murphy Back For Beverly Hills Cop 4
Eddie Murphy will finally return to the big screen as fast talking police officer Axel Foley for Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Recent attempts by The Shield Creator Shawn Ryan to revive the franchise on the small screen failed after a pilot for a TV series focused on Axel’s son wasn’t picked up for further episodes. Brandon T. Jackson was set to play Foley’s son but it remains uncertain and perhaps unlikely he’ll have any involvement in the new big screen sequel.
Murphy’s performance in the ill-fated pilot and the media coverage it instantly generated is at least credited with finally convincing Paramount that public appetite for the iconic wisecracking character remains strong.
Script duties for Beverly Hills Cop 4 have apparently been given to the team of Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec. The pair was most recently responsible for providing the studio with a screenplay for their forthcoming and potentially ill-advised Ninja Turtles reboot. No word yet on potential directors but bad guys in the Beverly Hills region consider yourself warned… you might just end up with a banana in your tailpipe.
