John Paul Jones Chooses Opera Over Led Zeppelin 2014 Reunion
Led Zeppelin bassists and music legend John Paul Jones has dismissed recent speculation of a possible reunion tour for the iconic rock band next year in 2014. Robert Plant made a recent admission in an Australian television interview that his schedule was clear for 2014, coyly hinting at the possibility of a Zeppelin reunion. The band last performed together in 2007 for a one-off performance in honor of Atlantic Records executive Ahmet Ertegun, but the question of further plans to reunite on stage remains persistent.
Speaking to Red Carpet News at the after party for the London launch of Philip Glass opera The Perfect American, bass guitarist John Paul Jones gave a brief update on his own progress writing a new opera of his own. The multi-talented musician admitted that while he still plans to do small solo shows that don’t require any significant preparation, he definitely won’t be available for any Led Zeppelin reunion shows in 2014. It’s simply too full of opera for him.

The Expendables 3 Cast Keeps Growing
Lionsgate CEO Jon Felthemer has reportedly confirmed that ‘advanced negotiations’ are taking places with Nicolas Cage, Jackie Chan, Milla Jovovich & Wesley Snipes to add them to the cast of The Expendables 3. Following the testosterone fueled success of the ensemble action heroes franchise the third in the grunting series will give Sylvester Stallone even more muscle and surly voices to play with.
As the Expendables sequel cast continues to grow it remains unlikely however the previously rumored ambitious additions of Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood will actually happen. Ford is already busy renewing his Millennium Falcon pilot’s licence for J.J. Abrams Star Wars Episode VII, while Eastwood is likewise probably too busy directing and being a living legend.
Luckily the existing cast are well skilled in surly mumbling and should be able to easily handle the barely audible grave voiced dialogue.
Blade Runner Sequel Gets Script Re-Write
Director Ridley Scott and screenwriter Hampton Fancher have spent the past year working on a script for an unlikely Blade Runner sequel. Now Alcon Entertainment has reportedly brought in writer Michael Green to give the script another draft.
Relative newcomer Green recently produced a new draft for Steven Spielberg blockbuster Robopocalypse, shortly before that project was postponed indefinitely because of Spielberg’s concerns over the bloated budget and an unsatisfactory script.
Many fans already have reservations about the Blade Runner sequel, particularly given the fact that Harrison Ford is unlikely to return, as he’ll be busy being a geriatric Han Solo in a galaxy far far away for J.J. Abrams Star Wars Episode VII. It’s unlikely to leave much time in Ford’s schedule to questionably reprise any other iconic roles after countless decades of reluctant aging.
The original Blade Runner notoriously went through several theatrical versions before it was hailed as the sci-fi film noir classic it now is. It wasn’t till the director’s cut of the original film got rid of a clunky narrative track that the film actually managed to capture some real magic and critical respect. Fans will be hoping that despite its awkward genesis, eventually the sequel will find its way to greatness too.
Ridley Scott had mixed results with Prometheus, his much hyped return to the Alien franchise, which boasted polished visual effects but let more fierce critics underwhelmed and confused. Hopefully the Blade Runner reboot will avoid that fate.
Cowboy Bebop Live Action Movie Confirmed by Anime Director
Shinichiro Watanabe the acclaimed anime director & writer responsible for classic series Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and most recently Kids On The Slope spoke to Red Carpet News TV at the MCM London Comic Con 2013.
In a rare English and Japanese language interview Shinichiro Wantanabe admitted that while he has little interest in revisiting past projects, including Cowboy Bebop, plans for an American Live Action Cowboy Bebop Movie remain in place. Although precise details currently remain top secret he hinted that initial stages of production may already be underway and that he hopes that it will retain the tone ans style of the original anime series.
The news will be welcome to devoted fans who had long believed the project to have been abandoned. Back in 2009, Matrix star and self-proclaimed anime fan Keanu Reeves was tentatively attached to play lead Spike Siegel in a big screen adaptation for 20th Century Fox. However the production never materialized, allegedly due to budget concerns. For now it remains to be seen whether or not Reeves will still prove to be attached to this new production.
