Tom Hiddleston Might be The Crow

Tom Hiddleston may be in line to replace Jame McAvoy in the reboot of The Crow franchise. Despite recent reports that X-Men First Class star McAvoy was in talks with Relativity Media over the role, it now looks like they’ve decided that they’d much rather have Loki than Professor X.

Tom is now apparently in early talks to tackle the iconic role as Eric Draven, a murderd goth rocker who returns from the dead to take vengeance on the people who killed him and his loved ones. Apparently the Avengers star has met with producers and sent them a home video of himself in goth makeup ahead of a proper screentest that’s likely to happen in the net few days.

Director F. Javier Gutierrez remains attached to direct the remake and will be hoping to rescue the franchise from a series of increasingly lacklustre straight to DVD instalments. The Crow sadly remains perhaps best known for the tragic death of star Brandon Lee after being accidentally shot with a prop gun during the filming of the original 1994 cult classic.

New Star Wars Film Every Year From 2015

Disney has officially confirmed that starting in 2015 they plan to release a new Star Wars film every year J.J. Abrams will kick things off with Star Wars Episode VII, the first chapter in a  new trilogy picking up with the original cast and following on from Return of The Jedi. Although Episode VIII won’t be arriving for several year’s after that Disney plans to fill the gaps in-between the new trilogy with a series of spinoff films focusing on individual characters from the existing Star Wars universe.

Episode VII already has a script from Michael Arndt, while the writing team of Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg will be responsible for the spinoff films.
Kasdan co-wrote Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, whilst Kinberg most recently helped Guy Ritchie reboot Sherlock Holmes.

It’s rumored that the first Star Wars spinoff may focus on Jedi master Yoda, hardly surprising given the enduring popularity of the grammatically challenged and that fact that these days he seems to have nothing better to do than sell you mobile phones.

Reaction to the news of Disney’s ambitious plans for Star Wars have been met with mixed reaction. The studio is undeniably keen to quickly recoup the $4 billion they spent securing the creative  rights from George Lucas, but some fans are concerned that churning out so many films so quickly may threaten the quality of the franchise. It may be worth reminding those critics that The Phantom Menance exists and that Lucas had 30 years to plan/make it. Good things don’t always come to those that that wait.

Thor The Dark World Poster Arrives

Check out the first official poster for Marvel sequel Thor The Dark World. The film stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster) and Anthony Hopkins (Odin). Directed by Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor, the much anticipated sequel sees Thor battle an ancient race of Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith (Christopher Eccleston) who threatens to plunge the universe back into darkness after the events of The Avengers.

Check out clips below of what returning cast members Tom Hiddleston and Ray Stevenson have to say about the new film:

The Croods Gets A Sequel

Dreamworks animated adventure about a dysfunctional prehistoric family of cavemen The Croods has successfully hauled in over $387 million worldwide. In a move surprising nobody but perhaps delighting small children the studio has now confirmed there will be an inevitable sequel.

Co-writers/directors Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders are both officially attached for the sequel but the cast remain to be confirmed. The first film starred the collective vocal talents of  Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Cloris Leachman, Catherine Keener and Ryan Reynolds.

A catchy pun packed title is yet to be revealed for the cartoon follow up. Expect it to be something subtle and sophisticated, perhaps along the lines of The Croods 2: Getting Crooder.
