G.I. Joe Gets Another Sequel
G.I. Joe: Retaliation officially hauled in over $132 million worldwide during it’s opening weekend in cinemas, immediately convincing Paramount to eagerly green light yet another sequel.
Despite mixed reactions from audiences and critics, the studio remains convinced that there’s clearly an appetite for even more CGI Ninja battles loosely inspired by nostalgic memories of playing with action figures.
As yet there’s no title or plot in place, but Paramount has already confirmed the next film will most definitely be in 3D. No doubt a bold artistic choice in no way influenced by the fact that even barely noticeable post-conversion 3D automatically increases box office returns due to inflated ticket prices.
Retaliation director Jon M. Chu has already expressed a desire to return to the franchise as has Dwayne Johnson and much of the current cast.

Independence Day Sequels Update
Director Roland Emmerich has spoken yet again about his long planned sequels to 1996 alien invasion blockbuster Independence Day. The so named ID Forever (parts 1 and 2) will apparently take place 20 years after the events of the original film, as a fresh army of alien invaders arrive to avenge the destruction of the first mothership.
Those familiar with the original explosion filled classic will remember that along with the White House the alien invaders pretty much blew up every major city on earth in the first film. So the world of 2016 we see in the new films will actually be more of an apocalyptic alternate reality. As Emmerich explains:
“It’s a changed world. It’s like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don’t know how to duplicate it because it’s organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane.”
As for whether this parallel future will feature a return for familiar characters from the first film Emmerich continued:
“It’s still some of the same characters, but also new younger characters; it’s a little bit like the sons take over.”
Bill Pullman has unsurprisingly expressed interest in returning to the franchise that made him a fighter pilot President, but it remains to be seen whether or not Will Smith wants to punch any more aliens in the face.
