Jude Law talks Sherlock Holmes 3 and 4

Jude Law made an appearance at the Apple Store in London last night to  promote his new film Side Effects. During the Q&A event with fans the British star was questioned about the prospect of a third Sherlock Holmes adventure and responded very positively.

After joking about how hot, steamy and exhausting the relationship between Sherlock and his long suffering companion Doctor Watson is, Jude  confirmed that he believes work will start next month on a script for another big screen outing for the pair. Although it’s unlikely filming would actually start before next year due in part to Robert Downey Jr’s hectic schedule.

Jude Law admitted that he had already spoken to co-star Robert Downey Jr at length about ideas for the next film, drawing on inspiration from the vast collection of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s work. In particular he confessed that both stars share a wishful ambition to turn their next adventure into a pair of sequels, with one case naturally leading into another in a second film.

While Jude was quick to  admit that nothing is confirmed yet, the idea would be that Sherlock Holmes 3 and 4 would follow the examples of franchises like Harry Potter and Twilight in filming both chapters back to back. As for what might lie in store for the super sleuthing detective duo Jude teasingly replied “Divorce!” Suggesting their bickering oddball relationship would remain just as hilariously awkward.

Full interview transcript to follow soon but for now Check out a gallery of pics below of Jude at the Q&A:

Joss Whedon Talks Avenger 2 & Hulk Spinoff

Joss Whedon has spoken about how he plans to follow up billion dollar box office hit The Avengers. Speaking about what fans can expect from The Averngers 2 which is already set for release in May 2015 the Geek God director replied

“Death, death and more death…  I can’t do any bigger, so I’m trying to do better.”

Probed for his opinions about the prospect of a new solo adventure for The Incredible Hulk , Whedon seemed more cautious than some recent reports about the potential project would have lead fans to believe.

“It would be very, very hard. The problem is he is a very popular character, but he’s not a superhero. Half of him is a superhero, half is a werewolf. You can’t structure it like a superhero movie. The one thing you have in your favour would be Mark Ruffalo. But right now I don’t know if they have plans to do that or not, because he works so well as part of a greater whole. By himself, it’s tough.”

Recent reports had speculated that a new Hulk adventure based on the popular Planet Hulk comics story arc was being planned, possibly even setting up the Hulk as the eventual villain for the third Avengers film. However given that Whedon is overseeing the whole of phase two of Marvel’s sperhero movie plans those reports now seem well wide of the mark given these most recent comments

Fantastic Four Reboot Gets New Writer

Matthew Vaughan was just confirmed by Mark Millar in a producer role for the 20th Century Fox’s  Fantastic Four reboot and now the project also has a new writer on board.

Juliette Binoche In Talks For Godzilla Reboot

Legendary Pictures is reportedly close to adding Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche to their growing human cast of Gareth Edward’s Godzilla reboot. The French actress would join a cast that already includes Aaron Johnson, Bryan Cranston & Elizabeth Olsen.

Frank Darabont is currently providing yet another re-write of the script for the long delayed monster movie, but adding art house favourite Binoche to an already impressive cast list is a positive sign that the film has sincere intentions of dramatic substance beyond simply a path of wonton destruction by a Giant CGI Lizard.

Guillermo Del Toro Talks Justice League Dark

Guillermo Del Toro has revealed some initial details of his ideas for a potential Justice League Dark movie. Providing a darker take on an Avengers-style team of superheroes, the film would unite many of DC Comics popular supernatural heroes like John Constantine and Swamp Thing.

Speaking to Empire magazine about the project Del Toro explained:

“I am going to be presenting my storyline to DC and Warners of where I want to take this universe. We do have a writer, but until that is firmed up, I have to keep it a secret. I hope it happens.”

As for how tentative pre-production is going so far Del Toro added:

“It’s going really really well. It’s like meeting old friends. I grew up with Demon Etrigan, with Swamp Thing, with Deadman, so these are characters that are near and dear to my heart. I’d love to use the origins that are proper to each character. I love the idea of Jason Blood as a paladin and a knight…. I love the entire Constantine mythology, the Dead Man mythology, the Alex Holland Swamp Thing mythology. These are really rich things to well, and to dig.”

Del Toro most recently produced chart topping horror hit Mama and will make his own directorial return to the big screen later this year with giant monster movie Pacific Rim.
