David S Goyer Talks Man Of Steel Superman Reboot

Man Of Steel Screenwriter David S Goyer has spoken about working on the upcoming Superman reboot alongside producer Christopher Nolan, admitting that the pair have taken a similar approach to the recently concluded Batman Dark Knight Saga.

“What Christopher Nolan and I have done with Superman is try to bring the same naturalistic approach that we adopted for the Batman trilogy. We always had a naturalistic approach, we want our stories to be rooted in reality, like they could happen in the same world we live in.”

As to whether this will involve giving the new Superman film a darker tone more grounded in reality than his previous big screen adventures Goyer went on to explain:

“It’s not that easy with Superman and actually this doesn’t necessarily mean we will make a dark movie. But working on this reboot we are thinking about what would happen if a story like this one actually happened. How would people react to this? What impact would the presence of Superman in the real world have? What I really like to do is write ‘genre’ stories without a cartoonish element. I did the same with Da Vinci’s Demons, and I’ll do the same with Man Of Steel.”

300 and Watchmen director Zack Snyder will no doubt be ensuring that Man Of Steel has plenty of stylised super slow motion; while Henry Cavill slips into the iconic suit and fluttering red cape as our new Superman.  The film also boasts a cast including Russell Crowe as Superman’s Kryptonian father, Amy Adams as Lois Lane and Michael Shannon as the evil General Zod.

Superman Man Of Steel flies back into cinemas fasting than a speeding bullet on 14th June 2013.

Mike Tyson Joins Scary Movie 5 Cast

Malcolm Lee’s unavoidable sequel Scary Movie 5 continues to add more names you should be vaguely familiar with to its cast of celebrity cameos. Already boasting the combined train-wreck talents of Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen the horror parody will now also have The Hills Audrina Patridge, Playboy Mansion girl Kendra Wilkinson and Mike Tyson to poke fun at.

Ashley Tinsdale, Molly Shannon, Terry Crews and Heather Locklear are among a surprisingly long list of other people who have already eagerly jumped on board for the chance to prove they’re still culturally relevant through the lucrative medium of badly script movie parodies.

The results of their collective desperation will be on show in cinemas from April 19th.

Johnny Depp Not In New Wes Anderson Film

Johnny Depp was widely reported as having joined the cast of Wes Anderson’s next film The Grand Budapest Hotel, taking his place among an unlikely lineup  that was thought to also include Bill Murray, Jude Law and Angela Lansbury. However Wes Anderson has now confirmed that in fact Johnny Depp won’t be in the film at all, while admitting he would love to collaborate with the kooky star at some point.

“No. There’s a lot of… You know, the Internet has a way of announcing things on its own [laughs]. You will find that even though I’m very aware of the cast that has been announced on its own devices, you’ll never find me saying who’s in the movie. Or, as far as I know, anybody else. I really don’t know where it all comes from. In fact, Johnny is somebody who I would love to work with at some point, but he’s not going to be in this movie. But I actually have not put the cast out — I have not announced the cast. We have quite a great cast.”

Wes Anderson has at least confirmed that  Bill Murray will be making his usual appearance in his next film, but he’s remaining tight lipped about which new faces will be joining him.

Matt Reeves Directs Planet Of The Apes Sequel

Cloverfield director Matt Reeves has won the race to direct  Planet Of The Apes sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes for 20th Century Fox.

Rupert Wyatt the director of Rise of the Planet of the Apes stepped away from the project due to the studio’s ambitious plans to speed though production to have the film ready for cinemas by May 2014. The situation has much in common withGary Ross and The Huger Games, where despite a successful and well received first effort the director stepped away from the franchise citing similar concerns.

The studio will now be hoping to push ahead with production to avoid the danger that people might forget just how good Andy Serkis is at pretending to be a monkey.

All You Need Is Kill Official Synopsis

All You Need Is Kill, Doug Liman’s forthcoming sci-fi film now has a detailed plot synopsis and an official release date of 14 March 2014. The film stars Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton and Charlotte Riley. You can read the whole thing for yourself below:

The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances.

Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped – untrained and ill-equipped – into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again… and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop – dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over.

But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who has laid waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.”
